Remembering Jason Arday | The Events and the Network That Led to Arday's Death
"I originally started writing this piece on August 14th as the culmination of observations of a certain phenomenon that occurs online around Black people— whether they're content creators, activists, academics, the victims of crimes, etc. This phenomenon is characterized by immediate, constant, and relentless dogpiling of the person and quickly moves away from the initial claims against the person and moves into racism and racially motivated threats to their safety (either threats of harm or death threats)."
"That being said, researching this piece resulted in me finding "the hive" and a network of racists involved with this story and new information has come out every day. I had to create a stop to not get off track, and just publish what I have so far. This is where we are as of August 23rd."

This Weekend I Got Called A "Liberal"...
But It Actually Proved My Point

"This weekend I made a post about how Cori Bush had hit all the boxes a leftist could hit, but "the left," left her hanging when she needed support. I wanted it to be a warning to leftist-first Black people (Black people who are so attached to the label of "leftist" that they allow and excuse non-Black folks attacking and talking crazy about other Black folks they feel aren't left enough) that no matter how left you go, "the left" does not support you and now is the time for us to turn inward and build our communities without these labels."
"...but because people misread my call for a bit of Black nationalism and a lil Black separatism as being "divisive" from Palestinian liberation, as saying there are no Black leftists— people mockingly told me to "read," with one Black person showing me books I'd already that talk about the Black community strengthening itself. Someone even told me to read "Freedom Is A Constant Struggle" and I had to laugh."

"Last week I got tentatively diagnosed with Narcolepsy Type I (with cataplexy) and I was lucky to have WOC neurologists to get here, and I had a Black woman as my provider last Thursday, and she was able to put all the pieces together of my medical history and symptoms I was tracking to get things done stat as opposed to just putting referrals in and leaving.
Today I went to see my favorite provider, my PCP, and prior to this appointment, I sent him a 5 part essay of issues I'd noticed with myself that I wanted to be addressed— one of which was my "naturally high" heart.
I got my blood pressure checked and it was good as usual— 122/84.
Then my heart rate came in at 102.
The nurse asked if this was normal and I let him know that it technically is, but that's something I needed to talk to the provider about.
I Got Used by a "Celebrity" 🙄

"On the evening of 19 June, I made a post outlining inconsistencies in the narrative being presented by Boots Riley in a disagreement with 2 other creators.
I don't like lying and I noticed that he was deleting posts and comments and then posting he had tried to take the high road and not respond. He'd only acknowledged the situation with one creator (the more controversial one), and deleted every comment to the creator that more well-known and "neutral." He was also being dismissive of the harmed he'd second creator AND other Black people who'd commented that they weren't fans of the movie who were receiving anti-Black comments.
So I posted and I tagged him..."
